Envy

I hate perfect people.

I hate it if I knew someone who is more accomplished, more handsome, smarter, wealthier, fitter than me.

I hate when the main character of the movie seems too perfect. Perfect character. Perfect physique. Perfectly accomplished. I can’t wait to see his downfall.

I hate someone who seems like they have their life together.

It brings me relief if I knew that they are failing, just like me.

Only then can the person becomes likeable.

If you’re honest, that kind of thought must have been inside your mind. Envy. No one escapes envy. Envy appears, and then we just bury it, or better we give justification why we shouldn’t envy.

Is it in our nature as humans to want to be similar.

I believe the thought is not even mine, it is what has been embedded in our DNA. We can’t control envy. It just, appears. And after it appears, kind people buries it, while evil people let it consume them.

I have read somewhere that it is one of our primal nature, in that certain book it was also explained some tribes have certain rules so that no one is better than others.

Maybe envy is why we survive, and the gene get passed on, because then we compete. Maybe the cultures that don’t envy, the gene gets wiped out by a more advanced civilization.
